Rendering a object in 3D need many calculation of math?

Quote 1.Answer for Why we need more powerfull CPU.
Rendering a object in 3D need many calculation of math with floating point. But by the speed, suppose CPU A can handle 30 floating point operation per miliseconds but you have many object and it require more than 30 float poing operation in same time. So result is CPU can not handle it at all then give you flicker screen or unable played game.
Now modem game has many details ,has many object need process at small time=>we need powerful CPU. Quote

So what are those floating points and vector math ? And why do 3D games and graphics use floating points and vector math ?

Why do 3D games use triangles like why is triangles the building block?

Is the floating points and vector math is what is taking up the CPU time?

This goes to the heart of computing really.

So, what’s a floating point number, without being too technical? Simplistically, it’s a number with decimal places. But to answer this, we really need to know what the alternative, an integer, is first.

Integers comprised of a number of bits of computer memory (usually 32 or 64 bits) can represent lots of things – identifiers for a collection of data about you, several textual characters, a whole number, or even (if you consider it in two halves, say) one whole number divided by another – a fraction. The reason it’s a useful unit in computing, though, is that the computer hardware can directly do operations like addition and subtraction on these things – it is wired to understand what we mean by “these 32 bits represent a whole number” and the calculations you might want to do with it.

Floating point numbers, then, are simply a way of packing information into a given number of bits to represent a number with a decimal point, and what’s special about them is that (some) computers have hardware built in which knows how to unpack these bits and do things with them – like multiply and subtract. The hardware is wired to understand what the bits mean.

Floating point is slower to manipulate, even in hardware, than integers, but it is more flexible in the way it can move the decimal point without requiring more storage – two large numbers multiplied together are an order of magnitude larger a number which is possibly beyond the number of bits allowed for in an integer if you want precision too.

Consider a right angled triangle with the two shorter sides length 1 unit. Then the hypotenuse (long side) is about 1.414 units – which isn’t 1 and it isn’t 2. If I say (arbitrarily) that my integers actually have an imaginary decimal point to allow for 3 decimal places, then I could represent my sides as 1000, 1000 and 1414. But if the precision I need (say to light up the right dot on the screen if I’m drawing the triangle) is more than 3dp, then that’s not good enough – hence something which can say where and move where the decimal point should appear in the number and at the same time be able to have fast calculations done on it in hardware is a useful thing.

Why triangles? We can (and do) have systems that can represent and shade smooth surfaces. But they are much more complicated (need more information to store, and more instructions to decode) than a 3D triangle, whose position can be represented with 9 numbers (x,y,z of each of the three corners; OK 12 if you want to store a colour as well) – so triangles are simple. The geometry is easier to calculate, and in particular is easier to calculate in hardware that understands triangles specifically. Graphics cards are now computers in their own right that are specially engineered to understand triangles in the hardware in the same way general purpose computers are wired to understand floating point numbers or integers. So given hardware support for shading 3d scenes based on triangles, it makes sense (and is, or at least was, possibly the only practical solution to real time shading) to break up and approximate a surface as lots of triangles. (Why not quadrilaterals? Mainly because a triangle is guaranteed to be flat and they are easy to join up to each other).

Vectors and how to render a scene? Each pixel on your screen has to be painted a particular colour, right? Think about it like this: a line drawn from your eye through the pixel is going to hit an object in the 3d model “behind” the screen sooner or later (or the background I suppose) and the colour of the surface of that object will become the colour of the pixel (tempered by the colour and direction of the model light and so on).

But how do you know which object? That boils down to: which triangle? And that is, in principle, a matter of intersecting the line with each of the possible triangles in the scene to see (a) which triangles the line actually passes through and (b) of those, which is the closest. There’s some short-cuts of course, but essentially that’s what the 3d scene rendering has to do, for every point on the screen, every 30th of a second.

I hope it is obvious that the more objects there are, the more calculations have to be done to intersect the lines with each triangle to find out which is closest as the scene changes. Each calculation takes time so as the number of objects increases (or the number of triangles is increased to make them smaller and therefore a smoother fit for the curved surface they represent), the harder it is to get that all done in the 30th of a second required for real time motion. Faster hardware is one answer.

Note though, not necessarily a more powerful CPU in the main computer. Graphics cards can and do take a lot of the rendering load, leaving the main CPU to do what it is good at – retrieving the objects from the database, responding to your commands and so on.

But its a vicious circle – th

What is a really good artistic software?

What I want is an artistic software that is like microsoft paint on steroids. What I want includes but is not limited to:
Vector Graphics
Photo realistic effects
Hyper realistic effects
Texture mapping
Bump Mapping
2D/3D Effects
Reflection
Lighting/Shading
Texture stuff like that^
Image development
Naturalistic rendering

Additional stuff:
User Friendly (but lots of bells and whistles anyway like Microsoft Office 2007)
Quick and easy
Something you DO NOT download online but instead buy from a store.
Under $150

the majority of that can be done relatively easily in Adobe Photoshop.
some of it would be a little easier in some of Adobe’s other software, but you can get packages.
the only downside to adobe products is that they are RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE.
