Who can help me develop graphics for an electrical engineering book and how much would it cost?
I’m working on a book of calculations, measurements, rules, etc., for electrical engineers that I’d like to publish. I need help with creating the images for this book. More specifically, I need images for different electrical wiring systems, conduits, conductor sizings, etc. These may or may not be available online. I am aware of sites such as istockphoto.com, corbis.com, sxc.hu, but they don’t offer everything I need.
Would the best solution be for me to draw it out on paper and have a freelancer pretty it up? Is there a site that offers eletrical engineering graphics that I may use? Are there any software applications that I may use (not talking Photoshop, but engineering related apps) to generate these images myself?

Autosketch is a drawing program with a library that includes electrical schematic symbols. The list price appears to be $150, but it should be available for less. There also other drawing programs that offer vector graphics rather than pixel drawing or painting. I have published material that include illustrations that I did with Autosketch.
You may be able to find a freelancer that can pretty up pencil sketches. If you can find a person with some understanding of the material, it may be easier to explain what you want.

If you are going to begin agraphic design career, the first thing you need to do is get your degree. There are many degree options to choose from at different colleges, universities and trade schools. No matter what school you choose to obtain your degree from, you will be required to have some specific tools of the trade. So what tools are used by graphic design majors? The choice then comes to whether a Mac or PC is preferable. Although some artists have one type of computer as a laptop and another as their desktop, most graphic designers are pretty loyal to one brand.
Graphic design software will allow you to create all sorts of art and illustrations, work with type, touch-up photos and complete layouts. In addition to graphics software, there are also some business-related software tools that graphic design professionals might need as they enter their careers. Some software products, such as Photoshop and Illustrator, focus on the creative end of design. There are also project management and time tracking software products that allow graphic artists to stay organized and manage the business end of design.
As a graphic art major you will also need books and sketchpads. Many art students just get the books they need for their classes, but it’s smart to build up your own small library of graphic design books because you will need them for inspiration, technical help, and business assistance. Since sketching out ideas is a great way to begin a project and brainstorm, it’s also always important to keep sketchpad handy. With these graphic design books, software and the help of other artists, who can inspire you and provide second opinions on your work, you should have everything you need for a career in graphic design.

Is technical graphics a hard subject for the junior and leaving cert?
I am really bad at it. I’m not that neat and I always need help? I bought a book to help me but I just can’t figure out how to do 2 or 3 of the questions.
I do well in every other subject especially science, irish and french. What do you think?
I think it depends on the kind of teacher you have. My teacher is really good and is always staying in at lunchtimes and after school for other kids to go back and do more work. I find it’s quite easy if you put your mind to it, the hardest part is just making the product but once it’s out the way it’s just evaluating (it sounds hard but it’s pretty easy!)
