New hardware slows down computer when it shouldn’t?
I have a dell dimension 2350 with a 1.7ghz processor. I recently got a sound blaster audigy se, brand new and installed it. It worked fine and all however (very) recently i bought me an ATI Radeon 9250. Before I installed it I had to do an XP Repair Install due to a power outage causing a problem. Afterwards I finally installed it and it slowed down greatly. Now anytime i listen to music on windows media player it crackles and has a “double sound” effect where evrything is repeating twice. This happens worse when I watch a DVD. I am really hoping someone could help me because unlike what I hoped, this card or my computer has slowed down. I’d hope its not the computer and I tested the old graphics and they still did it just not quite as bad. Also do you think its most likely the computer, perhaps If i cleared the prefetch or something?
I think that the power outage could have caused a problem with your computer. Consider replacing the power supply. You can either get the original one for your computer (pretty cheaply) on eBay or buy a universal one from Best Buy. If that doesn’t work then I’m not sure what will. Good Luck.
