Cannot get my PC to output 1080p to new TV. Please help!!!?
I am trying to display 1920*1080 on my new Toshiba (42XV553D) tv, but the highest resolution it will display via HDMI is 720*480, which is obviously horrific. If I use the VGA it will go up to 1378 or something, but it’s still rubbish and analogue. I have also tried from the DVI port on the computer using a DVI-HDMI converter with no joy.
I have tried a total of 3 computers on this TV all with ATI 3-series graphics, none of which work, yet all work fine on my other two TVs (a Samsung and a Panasonic) at 1920.
I have tried everything I can think of and am inches away from killing two birds with one stone by hurling the computer through the TV screen!
I realise this is quite technical, but I’m just praying that someone here knows what’s going on as google hasn’t helped much.

I doubt it’s an HDCP issue. All of the Radeon HD3000-series are HDCP-compliant (that’s what the “HDxxxx” designation means.).
For some reason the rendering engine in the Toshiba TV does not play nice with the DVI signal coming from the ATI cards. If possible, maybe borrow someone’s computer that has an nVidia card and see if it makes a difference, or try something else that uses HDMI like a Sony Playstation 3 or XBox360 and see if it has the same problem.
If everything else works nice on that Toshiba (nVidia card, XBox360, PS3, etc.), then it’s an issue with the ATI cards. If the problem persists with everything else, then it’s the Toshi that’s borked.

Setting up Eyefinity with NO DISPLAY output on CARD! 3×1?
I have a Radeon 5570 with VGA DVI & HDMI out puts. I hear that you need a display port as the 3rd monitor and I know that if you don’t have a display port on your monitors you can get a 100$ converter for that.
THE problem is that I don’t have a display port on my graphics card in general. How is it possible to get a 3×1 set up?
You CANNOT run Eyefinity with that card.
The HD5000-series cards that don’t have DisplayPort are NOT capable of running triple monitors.
Only the DisplayPort-equipped versions of the HD5000-series cards can do triple monitors.
You misunderstood– The DisplayPort active converter dongle is meant for connecting a non-DisplayPort monitor to a DisplayPort jack on an Eyefinity-capable HD5000-series card. It CANNOT be used in the manner you described (convert a non-DisplayPort video card to DisplayPort).
