as a notebook graphics adapter the ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5650 is not that bad,,,it has some excellent specifications for a laptop graphics solution and these include a 650mhz core clock and up to 1gb of gddr3 memory clocked at 800mhz…theres a decent 128bit memory interface and a 650mhz shader clock..and with the obvious direct x 11 support and pixel and shader model 5.0 compliance this equates to a excellent laptop graphic card
much like the desktop models the ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5650 use between 15 and 19 watts power during use and it contains 627 million transistors on a efficent 40nm die …..and one of the cool features of this card is its support for up to 3 displays…this is better known as “eyeinfinity” and it also supports the smooth video playback feature “avivo ”
so yes…you have a excellent graphics solution there….and with games such as battleforge and dirt 2 you should be able to experience those amazing dx11 graphics

History of HP
Classmates Bill Hewlett, along with Dave Packard of Stanford University went ahead to find Hewlett Packard (HP) in the year 1939. Which graphics card is more powerful and why?

I feel like this is an obvious answer and it probably is but i’m hoping that someone can help me understand. I know one is 128mb and the other is 512mb making them very different but the link above says that the 8400m gs is almost comparable to the 9200m gs. How could this be when one is four times larger? Is the ranking by how productive the card is or am i totally lost?
First answer is the best answer I’ve had on yahoo answers in the 3+ years using it. Wow… Right on the nose.

The amount of video memory onboard isn’t the best indicator of how powerful a graphics card is. The chipset/GPU the card is based upon, the number of stream processors, the core clock and memory clock speeds are what matter.
Here’s an article which may help- it explains the Radeon and GeForce numbering system – what the model numbers mean.
For GeForce cards, the first digit is the series or family (6, 7,8,9) which just tell you how new the card is… and the last 3 digits specify the level of performance. For Radeon cards, the it’s the first two digits for the family (3800 series, 4800 series etc) and the last 2 digits indicate performance.

If you consider graphics cards like cars, the amount of video memory is like the size of the gas tank, NOT the horsepower of the engine. Having lots of video memory helps cards perform smoothly at very high resolutions, just like a large gas tank helps cars on long trips- you don’t have to stop and fill up as often. But a Corvette with a 15-gallon gas tank still gets to Las Vegas faster than a Station Wagon with a 30-gallon tank!
You’re not alone in being confused, lots of shady computer sellers try to sell customers mediocre cards with large amounts of onboard RAM- and lots of people believe that’s how it works.
